The main event for tonight’s Pinoy Power 2 event was supposed to be Nonito Donaire vs. Rafael Concepcion. But when Rafael tipped the scales yesterday at 4.5 lbs. over the weight limit, this main event turned into an asterisk fight. If Rafael pulls off a win, it would automatically get an asterisk on it.
This is why the Bernabe Concepcion vs. Steven Luevano is really the fight to watch. Both fighters have impressive records, and both are fighting for a belt. Steven is really Bernabe’s true test, and if he wants to reach the boxing realms of his manager Manny Pacquiao, he’ll need to show his boxing skills tonight.
One thing going for Bernabe is that he has Freddie Roach in his corner. Freddie, the trainer for Manny, is sure to help Bernabe in figuring out Steven.
“He is trained by Freddie Roach, so I know he’s going to be in good shape and I know he’s going to be ready,” Steven said at yesterday’s weigh in.
He is a a technical boxer who boxes behind his long reach. His record is 36-1-1, 15 KOs, while Bernabe’s record is 29-1, 16 KOs.
